Amsterdam, November 14, 2014 – NEINVER, one of the leading project developers, investors and property managers in Europe, has entered into a partnership with Soeters Van Eldonk architects for the design of Amsterdam The Style Outlets, that is expected to open in 2019. With its modern look and extensive restaurant and shop offerings the outlet centre is excellent for a day out, for both domestic and foreign visitors. The design is inspired by typical features of the Netherlands. It is based on four core elements: water, stone, glass and green. Sustainability plays a key role in the design.

This design makes Amsterdam The Style Outlets the ideal location for shopping and recreation, and will undoubtedly attract foreign tourists”, says Sebastian Sommer, Business Development Director at NEINVER.

The design, which is inspired by the typical Dutch houses on stilts, is a combination of a typical shopping centre and the concept of a village. Thanks to the various squares, terraces, gardens, recreation areas and shops in the form of houses, the centre feels like a village. On the edge of the shopping centre there is a striking towering icon with vertical planting with at the top the logo of The Style Outlets. The design is very transparent, so that daylight easily finds its way inside. Because of the innovative architecture and the transparency of the design, the outlet centre seems to rise from the water.

NEINVER applied for the environmental permit from the municipality Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude today.

Sustainability is crucial for NEINVER. Sustainability is therefore an integral part of the design for Amsterdam The Style Outlets. The architectural design includes various environmentally friendly elements, such as solar panels. They are integrated in glass panels so that they generate energy, create a drawing in the roof and provide shadow. Different green zones are also being constructed. The outdoor design is based on the Dutch landscape, characterized by meadows and fields, and include several types of trees, plants, benches and vertical gardens.

NEINVER has an international reputation as a sustainable manager and developer of commercial real estate and acquired the BREEAM In-Use quality mark for its entire portfolio outlets that have been operational for more than 2 years. Energy efficiency is of great importance for NEIVER and the company is the first in the market with a triple ISO certification for all centres in Europe. The BREEAM-certified retail portfolio totals 319,600 m2 gross rentable surface.

The shopping centre is located on the former industrial area of Sugar City in Halfweg (halfway between Amsterdam and Haarlem) where the old Dutch sugar factory was once standing. Amsterdam is one of three current outlet projects of NEINVER in Europe (the other projects are in Viladecans in Spain and in Werl in Germany). The design of the projects, tuned to the local environment, and functionality form a new “chapter” in the development of The Style Outlets in the direction of tourist destinations. The Amsterdam Style Outlets will attract both domestic and foreign tourists and provide one economic impulse for the environment. Amsterdam The Style Outlets is NEINVER’s first project in the Netherlands and is together with the two other European projects part of the development strategy of the company to become the European market leader in the outlet sector. 600 new jobs will be created locally.

The outlet centre with 18,000 m2 of retail space accommodates 115 stores and 1,450 parking lots. The complex will have a recreation and restaurant area of 1000 m2, including squares, a terrace, galleries, green areas and children’s and family areas. The outlet centre is easily accessible from the A200 via the N200. In addition, the train station is located in front of the outlet centre and is close to Schiphol airport. Amsterdam Style Outlets is expected to open in 2019.
